Meet the team - Derbyshire Specialists Group
Derbyshire Joinery Specialists is the dedicated joinery and carpentry service of Derbyshire Specialists Group Ltd, founded and run by Liam Taylor from Belper in Derbyshire.
Liam has been working in the property and construction industry for over 10 years. He started with his own flooring company and property development business before recognising a consistent problem his clients faced: managing multiple trades on the same project was stressful, expensive, and often ended in disputes about who was responsible when something went wrong.
That insight led Liam to form Derbyshire Specialists Group — a network of specialist trades working under one company, one contract, and one guarantee. Derbyshire Joinery Specialists is the group's joinery and carpentry arm, delivering everything from fitted kitchens and bespoke wardrobes to staircases, stud walls, internal doors and wooden gates across Derby and Derbyshire.
What makes us different
The joinery industry is full of individual tradespeople working alone. That's not necessarily a problem — until your kitchen project also needs a plumber, an electrician, and a tiler, and you're the one chasing all of them. With Derbyshire Joinery Specialists, you get the craft quality of a specialist joiner combined with the project management capability of a full trades group.
Our joiners work regularly alongside partner electricians, plumbers, tilers and flooring specialists within the Derbyshire Specialists Group network. When your project needs multiple trades, we co-ordinate them. If something isn't right, there's no finger-pointing between contractors — we own the outcome.
Our joinery services
We cover the full range of interior and exterior joinery for homes and businesses across Derbyshire:
- Kitchen fitting — supply and fit, or fit-only for kitchens you've sourced yourself
- Fitted wardrobes and bespoke bedroom storage
- Staircase installation and replacement, including handrails and balustrades
- Stud walls and media walls
- Internal doors, door frames, architraves and skirting boards
- Wooden gates — garden gates, side gates and driveway gates, made to measure
We also work on commercial properties, office refurbishments and investment properties — Liam's background in property development means we're well set up for landlords and developers who need reliable trades on a tight schedule.
Our approach
We believe in jargon-free advice, honest pricing, and treating every property as if it were our own. Liam set the business up on the principle that a good tradesperson should be able to explain what they're doing and why — not baffle you with technical language to justify a bigger bill.
Every quote is free. We come to you, take proper measurements, and give you a clear written proposal before any work starts. Finance is also available on larger projects, subject to status.
